Dell 2007FP Goes into Standby Mode by itself
I'm running Windows XP SP3 ... Dell Inspiron 530 ... ATI Radeon HD 2600XT video card ... Dell 2007FP monitor using DVI interface.
This started about 2 weeks ago intermittantly and now it always does this. I try to run any video (Youtube or NBC.COM or any source) and, after beginning the stream, the monitor clicks into power save mode -- as though the computer were put into standby. Every thing else appears to be running fine. I have to power down the computer using the front power button and then power it back up to make it work. Once it goes into this "standby mode" every control appears to be frozen (mouse, keyboard, etc).
I'd appreciate any help I can get with this...
THANKS...

Rich17,
Does this occur when using the VGA cable?

Chris... I'll hook up a VGA cable and try it. If it does it with the VGA cable I'll then try hooking the VGA to my lap top and see what happens. Good idea! I'll let you know what results.

My computer (Dell Inspiron 530) does not have a VGA port on it. The video card (ATI RADEON HD 2600XT) has two DVI ports & one "S" video output ... so I couldn't try that fix.
I did try hooking my laptop to the monitor using the VGA cable and I can play videos into the monitor that way. Laptop does not have a DVI interface. I also tried lowering the resolution on the monitor and that didn't help. I'm not real familiar with drivers and a bit gun shy in trying to download and install a new driver - don't want to go past the point of no return if it doesn't work at all.
Don't know why I was always able to play any videos but now can't play anything streaming online. I can load a DVD and play it successfully. I'll try loading a saved video that I already downloaded and see if that works. Beyond that maybe it's the video card????

Try to deinstall the Adobe Flash Player. That worked for me.
