Dell 2407WFP not connecting with HDI-D

Hi,

I have recently built my own pc and switched it on today for the moment of truth with no success. I use a Dell 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor Model 2407WFP, and this worked perfectly well for the last 5 years using a VGA setup. (My new video card doesn't have VGA outputs). So I used the HDI-D connections.

Reading the manual, on set up it says I should connect a usb from the pc to the upstream usb connection on the monitor. I have never done this before.

When the PC boots up, the monitor message reads cannot find connection and goes into powersave

I am using an XFX R9 290 Radeon card

Hope someone can help me please!!!

Be sure that the VGA cable is NOT connected to either the monitor or the video card. While both the computer and monitor are on, press the monitor "Input Source Select " button. Choose DVI-D. Exit the Menu.
