Dell S2340T Gamma Settings

I just received my S2340T with my XPS 8500 the other day. The screen is impressive and I think I will end up enjoying it over my office iMac. However, I am having the following issues:

1) In windows 8, I feel like I can always see a horizontal line pattern on all background colors. It is really annoying. I have played with the Gamma settings in Windows 8 and it has improved, but barely. The problem is that I had to move the Gamma slider all the way to its darkest level to get any improvement. And the Gamma still doesn't match the "good" one that Windows shows as an example.

2) I feel that text is blurry in some spots and clear in others.
