Dell S2340T Network Interface

I've had this monitor for a little while now and really like it. The manual may be a little scarce on explanations though. Why is there a network interface (RJ-45) outlet on the monitor? I've got it hooked up via HDMI with the USB upstream cable. If I take the cable from the back of my computer tower and put it into the monitor's port, will it act the same as the computer's NIC?  :emotion-42:
