Dell ST2310 monitor Is Power Down Sleep Mode Possible

I recently purchased a new ST2310 monitor.  I have it connected to my Dell inspiron 580 running Win7 Home Prem using an HDMI cable.

My other monitor is an ACER x223W connected to my pc using VGA cable.

My screen saver runs 30 minutes and then the monitors go into sleep mode.  The ACER turns completely off and only the power button glows amber.  Of course any mouse or keyboard activity wakes it up.

The Dell ST2310 displays a logo on the screen and keeps the backlight on.  Not an issue during the day, but at night when I'm trying to sleep the monitor lights up the entire room.

QUESTION:  How do I get the ST2310 to shut down completely in sleep mode and display nothing?  My only solution so far has been to use the power button to shut it off and then power button again to wake it up.

Hi MrCraigHam,

Welcome to Dell Community. I understand your concern. I would advise you an alternate option here.
* Open Power Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options. Select Turn off the display time according to your preference
* Go to device manager. Start > run > type devmgmt.msc
Double click on Network adaptors and then right click on the option that has name of the network card( all of the devices listed) listed and click on properties and then click on power management
* Uncheck the option which says "Allow this device to wake the computer" then click on apply and ok
This step will prevent the computer to wake up suddenly from sleep mode.

Please reply if you have any questions.
