G3223D, firmware M3C102 24N58 not detecting monitor

As title says, I really need this cause I cant stand the back blue light. Trying this:

PC -> DP cable -> G3223D

PC -> USB-C cable -> G3223D

No in between stuff. Windows 10 64 bit. Windows is up to date as I'm writing this.

When connecting the USB-C cable, Windows sees it as "billboard device". The Device Manager of course detects the G3223D via DP cable (Dell G3223D (DisplayPort_SDR)).

October 10, 2022 firmware version 4WW4X works:

PC -> DP cable -> G3223D
PC -> USB-C cable -> G3223D

  • Start firmware update utility
  • Update - DO NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL IT FINISHES
  • After finish, turn off G3223D
  • Disconnect power cable
  • Reconnect power cable
  • Turn on G3223D

You can now turn off blue light in OSD menu.

* Disconnect the USB-C cable from both the G3223D and the PC
* Connect only the DP to DP cable to the PC DP in port
* Right click the downloaded firmware, click Run as administrator, what happens?

OK. So the video is working using the DP cable. Open the Windows Device Manager. Connect the G3223D USB-C to C cable from G3223D #7 USB-C upstream port to the PC USB-C port. Windows Device Manager should show new hardware found.

Right click the downloaded firmware, click Run as administrator, what happens?

I'm having the same exact issue.

Same issue as original poster.  Monitor not detected by firmware update utility.  Using display port and USB-c cables provided with Dell G3223D Monitor.  Both connected to a Aurora R13.  The USB-C cable I've tried connecting to all three USB-C ports on the Aurora R13.  the Display port cable plugs into the RTX3080.  Bug in firmware update or something else going on?  Fresh Install of Windows 11 22H2, latest NVidia drivers as of 9/25/2022,  all drivers for monitor and Aurora R13 are installed.  The Dell Display Manager application can interact with the monitor fine so I know its the Firmware update utility that has the issue.

As a 2nd test I just plugged "ONLY" the USB-C cable into my Work Dell Laptop's Dell Docking Station's USB-C port. closed the laptop cover so the only connected Display is the G3223D.  I can see the Laptop's Windows 10 21H2 OS fine so I know the monitor is connected and working.  I open the firmware file as Admin on my work laptop and even with the Monitor being used as a USB-C display it not being detected by the Firmware Update utility.  Someone messed up the programing somehow in this utility.

Thanks all for the troubleshooting. I will send an email to the displays team to notify them of the issue.

as I know, it shall connect to monitor directly via USB C cable from PC, not go thru docking station when using the fireware upgrade tool. you can try it.

Can I update my monitor if I don't have usb-c on my PC?

My laptop doesn't have a USB c port, only the docking station.  The aurora R13's usb c ports don't seem to transmit video when i have the display port unplugged and just usb-c plugged in.  If only people with usb-c video ports can upgrade firmware then thats useless to most people.

Same problem with my monitor. Tried everything and the firmware utility does not recognize the monitor (Windows 11 22H2).

Tried with usb-c to usb-c connection and with DP connection. The monitor works fine, Dell Display manager sees it fine and can adjust the properties but the firmware update utility does not detect it.
