Half the screen is defective on my U2711?

Hey there,

 

I purchased a brand new Dell U2711 monitor in October 2010 but for the past week or so I've been experiencing red and blue lines on my screen which has been getting worse and worse since it started.

The colours of the lines depend on the colours displayed on the screen eg. where the screen is lighter the lines are more blue & where the screen is darker, the lines are more red. Also, only the right side of the screen is being affected and it appears inconsistently on the screen.

This is what I get when the screen is showing dark colours (I put a solid black background to make it more obvious): pic

You can see that there is also an obvious red line that runs down the centre of the screen too (close-ups): pic

I have also already done the STFC check and it still appears there: pic

 

So does this sound like I'm going to need a replacement monitor?

Get it replaced. If you only have a monitor order number, you should contact Order Support. If your monitor was purchased tied to a Dell PC, contact Technical Support. They will need the following data -
Email Address:
Name:
Shipping Address:
Phone Number:
Monitor Order number or PC Service Tag number:
Monitor 20 digit PPID number:
Reason: Monitor fails the STFC (Self Test Feature Check)
