Help! 2005FPW vs. 2001FP?

Hi there - I am about to buy one of the models above (2005FPW vs. 2001FP) from the outlet store.  I have no clue which one to buy...I watch DVDs and develop web sites.

Any suggestions???

Do I need a special video card?

Thanks

Hi kdbryant

Both monitors are good just to help you out go to this website www.hardforum.com go to the word "Display" and look for 2001FP and 2005FPW you will get an idea from the people who have posted there views and see pictures. There's one you might like to look at the Hardforum.com website "Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW widescreen 20in monitor" it has a few pictures with comments and reviews.

I hope this helps

Kelley,

Hi, I have been reading all the sites on this and have just ordered the 2005FPW in preference to the 2001FP (as long as your graphics card supports the higher resolution you will be ok), lots of e-mails regarding problems with 2005FPW but many supporting ones here,

All Mac G5 system monitors are widescreen and I think this is the way to go, don't be put off by QA issues, Dell offers such a good 3 year warrenty you cannot realy go wrong,

Good luck,

Simon

Oh yeah and one more thing people seem to forget a lot around here:

The 2005FPW has a pivot stand that you can use to rotate the monitor to a portrait orientation.  As long as you have rotation support in your graphics adapter drivers, you can view a VERY long document.

This might be good for coding too, as you could view a huge amount of text at once.

I just bought a 2005FPW, due to the crazy 25% off deal a few days ago.  Unbelievably, I got my monitor the next day even though I used ground shipping.

So far so good, no backlight leakage issues and no bad pixels.  I was nervous my panel would have its issues, but after one day of using it I think I'm in love.

Widescreen is more for gaming and movies than development, becuase the panel is only 1050 pixels tall as opposed to 1200 pixels for the 2001FP...but as long a 10% shorter FP doesn't bother you its a great deal right now

LCD_Ninja  - 25% off new???  or is that refurb?

How many inches is 10%?

Thanks

Oh, should I be concerned about my graphics card not support it?

What's your video card?  You can usually check on the website.

Wednesday there was a special for 25% off Flat Panels, not including the 2405.  I got the 2005FPW for $480 or so before taxes.  I think it's down to 15% off today.

Ummmm, according to the specs the 2405FPW preset display height is 12.7 inches vs 10.7 for the 2005FPW.  I'm assuming thats of the panel, sounds about right
