How do I achieve 2560 x 1440 resolution on my P2416D in Windows 10?
I just hooked up my Dell P2416D monitor to my Dell Inspiron 17R via HDMI cable.
According to page 12 of the P2416D User Guide, HDMI or DP connection should support 2560 x1440 resolution, but when I try to set the resolution in Windows 10 "Advanced Display Settings", the maximum resolution it shows in the Resolution dropdown listbox is 2048 x 1152.
How do I achieve 2560 x 1440 resolution on my P2416D in Windows 10?

What is your computer spec? Does it support HDMI 1.4 or above?

According to Dell online support chat:
The Inspiron™ 7720/17R (SE) systems offer an integrated HDMI™ 1.4a connector.

I do not know how to determine if my if my Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 supports HDMI 1.4 or above.
Is there any type of software or BIOS setting I can use to make that determination?

According to Dell Technical Support "chat", since the Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 that I'm hooking the brand new Dell P2416D monitor to via a high-quality HDMI cable is out of warranty, even though the Dell P2416D monitor is brand new, I have to spend $129 for a "single incident" support session in order to try to resolve this issue for a monitor that I paid $268 for.

The P2416D is capable of the higher resolution but the P2416D will only display what is being pushed to it. So something in the laptop hardware is not pushing HDMI 1.4. You should post the issue on the Laptop Video board so other Inspiron 17R SE 7720 users can add their thoughts.

I believe 2048x1152 is the maximum resolution for HDMI 1.3, so I think something in the chain (Monitor, cable, video card) are HDMI 1.3. All the element in the chain must be HDMI 1.4 or above for you to get 2560x1440.
