I have Windows 7 on an Apple MacBook Air. The laptop is connected to the Dell S2716DG via Displayport. The laptop is also connected to a USB hub. USB speakers are connected to this hub. So far I have only used the laptop with this display so running audio through the USB hub to the USB speakers has not been an issue.
Now I am buying an Nvidia Shield streaming and gaming console. I intend to connect this to the S2716DG as well, via the remaining HDMI port.
Is there a way that I can run audio to the USB speakers via the display so that I can use the same speakers for both the audio coming from the laptop and from the Nvidia Shield console? What is the correct way to connect the various devices involved?
Not through the monitor. It only has one USB upstream port. You would need a USB hub that has two USB upstream ports, one for the Apple and one for the gaming console. Then the USB speakers would plug into the downstream port on the USB hub.
