Is it possible to disable scaling on the S2409W? I want to be able to display 1280 x 1024 resolution on the monitor without the image being stretched to use the entire screen space.
There is no OSD option for this and I have already set Image Scaling via ATI Catalyst Control Center to "Use centered timings".
Im using XP and the DVI port.
i've been doing some testing w/ the DVI and HDMI port on this monitor. I have an onboard ATI Raedeon Xpress 1250 with HDMI out. For the DVI port, I'm using a HDMI to DVI adapter. It turns out that the DVI port on the monitor scales automatically, but the HDMI port doesnt. Also, the entire screen isn't being used when going through the HDMI in port on the monitor. There are visible black bars at the edges at 1920x1080.
My graphics card acts differently depending on what type of cable is connected to it. With a DVI cable, I'm offered a full range of resolutions (but scaled at any resolution to fit the screen), but only a limited number when using a HDMI cable.
The resolution that I need for my game (Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings) is 1280x1024. So as a workaround, I'm running it in VMware (xp). There are some screen limitations, such as garbled colored text, but other than that it looks fine in full screen mode at 1280x1024.
after playing w/ the monitor & my computer's bios settings for onboard HDMI video some more i've come to the conclusion that:
- the DVI option in the comp BIOS for HDMI allow for more resolution settings
- scales for any resolution below 1600 x 1200
- the DVI port max res is 1920 x 1080 and uses the full screen real estate
- the HDMI port scales for any resolution below 1280 x 768
- the HDMI port max res is 1776 x 1000 but will scale down when res is set to 1920 x 1080
So I am able to play my 1280x1024 game without scaling when I'm using the HDMI cable.
I should really get a dedicated video card to avoid all this headache.
what resolution and refresh rate are you guys running on this monitor? I just received mine today and was playing around with it. I see the higher in resolution i go, the refresh rate drops from 70-75hz to just offering 60hz.
Is it ok to run it at 60hz? seems kinda low. I have it running at 1280x1024 75hz but it seems stretched. Any advice? thanks
