Monitor to desktop keeps going black!!!

When my new Inspiron computer is turned on a 545S model, the monitor, which is also new a S2209W Flat Panel Monitor, shows the normal background picture for a moment, along with a blue center message saying "Auto Detect Analog" ,   then goes black.  The power button in the lower right corner is still white(shows that it has power).  If I turn the monitor off and then back on it shows the picture for a second then goes black again.  If I hook up my old monitor, the (one I am using to type this) it computer seems to be fine.  I just cant figure out to keep the new monitor on, and why do I have to keep pushing the on and off button to see 2 seconds at a time on the screen.  Help!!!

The Blue VGA cord it came with.  The new INSPIRON desktop I bought at the same time does not have a white DVI port.

Press the Input Source Select button on the front of the monitor and change it from 1. Auto Detect (Analog) to 2. Analog Input. Then, press the Auto Adjust button. Any difference?
