Monitor won't power up

Hi anybody

I asked for help a few days ago but no answers yet.

My monitor (Dell 17" LCD, ~7 years old, don't have a model No., think it is just a "value" one!)  suddenly went blank and the power button flashes green off and on.

Tried the usual remedies: check all connections, turn everything off and back on again: nothing.

I replaced the monitor with an old CRT using existing cables and it works fine so it must be a purely monitor problem? (Plugged the misbehaving monitor into another PC - no difference)

Can anyone offer any help (other than suggesting go buy a decent model!)?
