New SX2210T not going to sleep when "turn off monitor" setting in place
I have a new SX2210T (very nice) which had an older ATI video card with DVI out. The monitor would turn off without any problem when the "turn monitor off" setting was in place. I just upgraded to a new nVidia card with HDMI connection to the monitor. Now when the monitor is supposed to power down and the proper time interval , the monitor is still on and there is a floating signal that says "HDMI not connected".
Is this a firmware problem with HDMI? Should I just revert to the DVI?
Any thoughts on this?

As a follow up. I switched back to the DVI connection and removed the HDMI. The screen immediately went into powersave mode as it should.
This is my first time with an HDMI connection so I may be missing something or there is not a powersave mode available with the HDMI connection.

Will add your results to my notes and forward them to engineering. What operating system? What model video cards?

I am runnng Windows 7 Ultimate on an Optiplex 755 system with EVGA GT220 video card.
I started with the HDMI connection and the monitor would just have a floating GUI that says " No HDMI cable connected" or something like that. The monitor does not go to sleep at all and you can see that there is power to the it.
Switched to the DVI connection and it would turn off the monitor normally I it goes off completely and then wakes up when I move my mouse.
Thank you.

We have tested both models (SX2210, SX2210T) today on a Studio XPS 1640 with the ATI HD 3670 video card and both work fine in power save mode using HDMI. It sounds like the issue could be with graphics card. I want to capture your monitor for testing. Send me the following in a private conversation so I can setup the exchange and capture (Click my name, click Send a Message) -
Name:
Email:
Shipping address:
Phone number:
Monitor Order number or PC Service Tag number if purchased with a PC:
Monitor 20 digit PPID number found on the back on a label or on the slider card on the left rear:
Optiplex 755
Windows 7 Ultimate
EVGA GT220
Reason: Fails to resume from PowerSave using HDMI

The captured monitor worked fine on HDMI in PowerSave Mode on the following video card, ATI HD 3650.

It must be the nVidia card. This is a new GT220 1gb DDR3 card. I may need to switch back to ATI.

letti001,
Here are the results of your captured monitor -
We got the exact nVidia video card, installed the exact video driver version as customer stated, also on the same monitor (Captured).
Display: OK
Power Save and wake up: OK
No issue found!

Is this an HDM connection? If so, I already have a request to have my video card exchanged. It is a bit backordered so hopefully I will get the new card soon and check it out myself.
I must say tht I am impressed with the tenacity that you have shown. I am sure it is all to good use for others in the future but is appreciated by me.
I'll keep working on it from my end.

I am also experiencing the same problem with my ST2210 monitor when using a HDMI cable. Has a solution been found yet?

I am also having the same problem with my ST2210. Works fine with VGA. Just got an HDMI cable and, after first resolving the crazy overscan issue with ATI, am now seeing that the monitor doesn't sleep when the operating system tells it to. Just comes up with the "No HDMI Cable" message box. Would love a solution.

I did away with the thought of using HDMI and fell bacl to using a DVI cable. The advantages of the HDMI lie mostly in its simplicity. I was hoping to somehow use the sound from my Creative sound card and have it pass thought the HDMI cable so I can clean up the cable situation a bit. The sound unfortunately come from the video card and not the sound card.
Non of this helps you, but perhaps the following will:
I just bought a MacMini and installed Windows 7 on it and tried to use my SX2210T with the HDMI cable and had the same problem with the monitor not going to sleep but with the screen being "black" but with a backlight on and the floating message that the cable was not connected and the monitor would not go to sleep. I thought this was odd so I tried a different solution. I bought a higher end HDMI cable (Monster cable from Ace Hardware just up the street) and now it work just as it is supposed to. The monitor goes to sleep and will wake with movement of the mouse or keyboard. The original problem might have been witht the quality of the cable itslef. The original cable I had bought was from Amazon and it was one of the cheaper ones...now I may know why.
So my asnwer is to try a better cable unless of course you have a Monser cable then I have nothing to add
Good luck!

I called Dell support and they said are aware of the issue and do not plan to fix it. I would recommend using a DVI cable.
