P2418D, two, with laptop no DP output?

Dear Dell Community

I would like to buy two Dell 2418D Monitors (Link) and use them as external screens for my laptop. When the screens are connected, I would like being able to do both:

  1. Close my laptop and use only the two monitors as first and second screen.
  2. Leave my laptop open and use all three screens (as three different screens; no mirroring)

Unfortunately, my Laptop (Nexoc B510III, Windows 10) has no Display Port output - as far as I understand it is then not possible to Daisy Chain the monitors by Display Port. Therefore, before I invest in the two monitors, I would like to know, if I would even be able to connect both external monitors to my laptop.

Laptop outputs (including its Docking Station):

2x HDMI

2x VGA

1x DVI

multiple USB 3.0

Inputs of each monitor:

1x HDMI (Version 1.4)

1x VGA

1x Display Port (Version 1.2)

1x USB 3.0 Upstream

3x USB 3.0 Downstream

Graphics card in Laptop: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 (allows up to 3 monitors)

I looked already a lot through this and other forums and found a lot of threads with similar problems. Unfortunately, the proposed solutions didn't work for my case (e.g. connecting a DVI-multiplier to my laptop and then use DVI to connect the laptop with each monitor - the monitor I would like to have does not DVI).

I would highly appreciate your support or if you could point me into the right direction.

Thank you and kind regards,

Sandro

This should work with Nexoc B510III lid closed =

Nexoc B510III Dock #1 HDMI out port --> retail HDMI to HDMI cable --> #1 P2418D 2560x1440 60Hz

Nexoc B510III Dock #2 HDMI out port --> retail HDMI to HDMI cable --> #2 P2418D 2560x1440 60Hz

Even with a dock, I do not know if the 2014 Nexoc B510III Intel HD4600 GPU can drive all three (Laptop LCD + P2418D 2560x1440 60Hz + P2418D 2560x1440 60Hz). Only Nexoc could know this.

Thank you for the quick response. I didn't know that I can just use two different HDMI-connections for different screens.

I really hope it will work when I will have the monitors.

Thank you very much again! :-)
