Quiet beeping noise when XPS 2407WFPb is OFF

My Dell XPS 2407WFPb has started making a very quiet beeping noise whenever it is off and the power is connected. Frequency is about 2 beeps per second. It's one of those noises that is easy to miss, but once you notice it, it will drive you crazy. My solution right now is to turn off the power strip whenever I don't need it, but that's annoying - my phone charger etc. are connected to the same strip.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or any idea of how to fix it?

Thanks!

fallingcow,

Please test the monitor power cord plugged directly into the wall socket, not on the power strip. How many years of warranty did you purchase on this monitor?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the quick reply.

The monitor makes the same sound when plugged directly into the wall, and has had the same problem in multiple houses/locations. I purchased a 3-year warranty with the monitor, but bought it in April 2009, so it is out of warranty.

Do you think this is fixable? Or will I have to keep unplugging it between uses?

Thanks!

We do not have the internals to sell to fix it. Maybe ebay.

Hi Chris,

Do you know which internal parts I would look for?

Thanks,

Joe

No clue. We do not disassemble them.
