Random colored dots and lines on 2408WFP, even when not connected to PC.
I got my new 2408WFP screen a couple of weeks ago. The first day I ran it suddenly went crazy and the whole screen got covered with random color dotted groups of lines. I unplugged the DVI cable and saw that the problem consisted even when not connected to the PC - so its definitely something with the screen itself. after a few hours I turned the screen on again and everything seemed to be alright… since then the screen worked fine for a week, but the last few days the problem came back, at the beginning it would take a few hours until the problem showed up, and now after 10-15 minutes of working properly the screen goes crazy again and it gets worse the longer the screen is on…
And what's worse? i can't locate any service tag code on the screen!!!
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 3450. PC: Dell Studio 540. OS: Windows Vista Home Premium X64
Any ideas? someone?

Monitors don't have service tags. Contact Dell Support for help with this. Have your invoice handy.

JoniKS,
This sounds like a defective display. To confirm this, when the display acts up again with this pixellation issue, unplug the DVI cable from the PC while on and if this symptom is still present in the "self test" mode, it is the display. Call Dell's tech support and explain your troubleshooting steps and that this pixelation symptom occurrs in self test mode (if indeed this is the case). Have your invoice ready as stated by Mary. Have your 20 digit PPID# ready just in case. There are only two Dell displays that have service tags and the 2408WFP is not one of them.
