Recommend LCD Monitor

I have been reading the reviews of the new "Hitachi" lcds monitors. They seem to have something no one else has and that the fastest response rate. Also have good color , brightness etc . A response rate of 16ns. Thats very fast and excellent for gaming. They also have DVI and analog connectors. Another interesting thing I noticed about LCDs in general, the ones that they call ultra sharp seem to all have lower response rates. Maybe that related to clarity and sharpness somehow.

I'm a little reluctant to buy the Dell Monitors. I  would welcome any suggestions about any monitors to look for. Thanks

Anything from Samsung.  What size are you looking for?

Re: Recommend LCD Monitor

An 18". I just read 26 pages of problems with Dell flats and frankly I think I should wait . Is this problem only with Dells or other brands as well?

Re: Recommend LCD Monitor

Well, I would reccomend the Samsung 192T.  It's a 19in monitor but a very sweet one.  Personally i have the Dell 1800FP and the Dell 2001FP on a custom built PC with a radeon 9800 Pro.  I have no problems with either monitor.

Re: Recommend LCD Monitor

The latest "Ultrasharp", the 2001FP has a very fast response time. I've got a 1504FP, two 1702FPs, a 2001FP, my father and son each have a Samsung 191T (same as Dell 1900FP). All have been problem free and none have any bad pixels. If you watch for sales, they are outstanding buys. (2001FP is back on sale at $750 including shipping on the Small Business site.)

Re: Recommend LCD Monitor

Thanks Talmy,

You seem to be quite a guy. I'm impressed. I appreciate the feed back on the LCD's . I think I'm going to take the " Leap ". I'm retired and on the computer for at least 6-8 hours a day and my eyes are not to good and I've been suffering with eye strain from the CRT. It seems to me that the LCD picture is easier on the eyes. I'm really not a gamer but who knows in the future. Do you think the LCD's that you recommend are fast enough for some gaming without shadows etc.

Re: Recommend LCD Monitor

I don't use my computer for games. But the "word on the street" is that the 2001FP is great for games. The other monitors are slower.

Re: Recommend LCD Monitor

Like talmy, I have a 1702FP and I ordered a 2001FP last night. The 1702FP has great image quality and, with the very fast 16ms response time, the 2001FP is about as close as an LCD is gonna get to a CRT for gaming. I also have a friend with a 1901FP and it has great image quality. You really can't go wrong with any of these LCD's.
