ST2220T and Android

I have Dell ST2220T monitor which works fine with my Vista notebook. However, I just brought Android mini computer which doesn't recognize its touch interface. I wanted to get some kind of a big Android tablet with that, but I suppose it was just a waste of my money.

This Android computer has not its own display, so the ST2220T attached to its HDMI connector is its primary display. A generic mouse connected to the USB connector of this computer works just fine, but I don't like such solution. Please, could you tell me is there any chance to allow the touch interface of the monitor under Android?

Hi  zzd,

Welcome to the Dell Community. The Dell ST2220T monitor’s touch interface is designed to work with Microsoft windows based OS. It needs additional drivers to be installed before you could use the touch interface on this monitor. Since it’s not possible on your android device, you will not be able to make use of touch interface in the monitor.

Kindly revert back and let me know for further clarifications.

Thanks & Regards

Hi Dell_Vishwas_M,

Thank you very much for your response. Do you have any feedback from Dell software developers if they work on Android driver for the mentioned monitor? This mini computer is not currently rooted, so I suppose that I wouldn't be able to install such thing as some driver to it, but maybe I could buy some another similar Android computer like MK802 which is already rooted.

Hi zzd,

The Dell ST2220T monitor will work only with windows OS only. We may have touch interface monitor which might work with Android devices in future.

If you would like to share your feedback/idea with Dell about touch interface monitor compatible with android devices, please visit the following web link and submit your idea.

Please reply if you have any questions.

I have a DELL ST2220L successfully running with Android.

To achieve this you have to compile the kernel with USB-HID support and the usb-multitouch driver enabled and the driver patch* applied to the kernel sources.

*You can find the driver patch, and also more information about integrating the drivers in the kernel at:

http://lii-enac.fr/en/architecture/linux-input/multitouch-howto.html

Have fun!

Cheers

Hi Tinu-CH,

thanks for the info. I'm planning to get an Android HDMI stick for my ST2220T. Does it matter which one to get? Also I couldn't find any Dell monitors in their list of multitouch devices compatible...

Thanks for your help!

Tino
