ST2420L, Display too large for the screen

I have an Inspiron with an ST2420L monitor and within the last few months the display is larger than the screen, causing me to scroll. The serial on my monitor is MX-04X6C0-74262-12B-1KVU. I tried adjusting the resolution but I only have 2 options and the other one is even larger. I'm not a computer expert and I really need help, please.

Chris, this is a desktop. The resolution only has 2 settings and the other is even worse. Russ

What is the Inspiron service tag number? Click my name and send it to me via private message.

You have the Inspiron 580s. I do not see an added discrete video card so your monitor connection choices on the rear of the Inspiron 580s are = HDMI, VGA

Inspiron 580s HDMI out --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> ST2420L HDMI in
-or-
Inspiron 580s VGA out --> VGA to VGA cable --> ST2420L VGA in

Which one are you using?
