U2312HM: DisplayPort versus DVI-port

My monitor U2312HM has a DisplayPort port and my motherboard supports DisplayPort as well.

Are there any advantages of using DisplayPort compared to DVI?

They both will do the resolution of 1920x1080. DP also transmits audio if the video card supports it.
