U2410 screen discoloration
As shown in the image below, the discoloration has been encroaching towards the center of the screen over the past view years. Purchased on 3/29/2012. Can this be repaired?

I understand Dell itself does not repair monitors. I am hoping to find out if by looking at the image, someone could explain, 1) what was happening and 2) if he/she had an opinion on whether or not it could be repaired by a repair facility.
