I have a U2412M on my desk. It is connected to a Dell Latitude E6400 via the docking station and a DVI cable. The E6400 runs Win XP. The U2412M is literally painful to use. It strobes at the only refresh rate available, which is 60 Hz. I can't believe that a monitor that costs this much actually runs at only 60 Hz and nothing higher, even when the resolution is lowered to 640x480. Is there a way to update the monitor or the driver or something to up the refresh rate? Is this a Win XP issue? Is this a E6400 or docking station issue? Because that is literally what this monitor is doing to my eyes. I'm about ready to go back to an eight year old Dell 1907FP - this thing hurts my eyes so much.
Please post a youtube video of this strobing. Try testing the monitor directly to the laptop via the VGA to VGA cable.
I tried it with a VGA cable to the docking station. No change. It won't go beyond 60 Hz.
I don't have a camera I could record video with and post to U Tube.
I need additional assistance. I am no closer to being able to up the monitor's refresh rate to something that isn't painful.
You must remove the dock from the troubleshooting. Connect the monitor directly to the laptop and retest.
I did try a direct connection to the VGA on the computer - no docking station. This gave no difference in refresh rate. This is quite disappointing.
I'm still stuck. Is there anything that can be done for this monitor?
My notebook goes to much higher refresh rates on my personal Samsung and HP monitors.
Are those other monitors widescreen 16:10?
Below are the refresh rates and resolution supported -
WOW - that's a BIG disappointment!
I won't name competitor makes and models but it doesn't take long to find monitors that are cheaper and also do 75 Hz.at 1480x1050 and 1280x1024.
