U2415, Dual, 2012 ThinkPad T430s, no DP daisychain?

I made some progress on this but not getting max resolution 1920x1200 on one of the monitors.

My laptop has one mini DisplayPort out, one VGA. There is no HDMI port. So I purchased a VGA to HDMI adapter and set it up like this:

Laptop mDP --> Dell mDP to DP cable --> First U2415 DP in --> 1920x1200 resolution

Laptop VGA out --> VGA to HDMI adapter --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> Second U2415 HDMI in ----> 1920x1080

Second U2415 that is connected via VGA to HDMI is maxing out at 1920x1080 resolution. Also screen appears slightly blurry when compared to the First U2415 that is connected via Displayport.

Thanks for the reply Chris. I followed those steps as well but it didn't change anything. Both displays were cloned no matter whether Displayport 1.2 was enabled or disabled in either one or both monitors' OSD.

That is why I bought this VGA to HDMI converter and have connected 2nd U2415 using HDMI cable, but this is restricting the resolution to 1920x1080.

I doubt that the four year old ThinkPad T430s VGA out can do anything higher than 1920x1080. I also do not know if the 430s mini DisplayPort is version 1.2 which may be why it only cloned earlier. But try this =

T430s mDP out --> mDP to DP cable --> #1 U2415 DP in (DisplayPort 1.2 to Enable)
#1 U2415 DP out --> DP to mDP cable --> #2 U2415 mDP in (DisplayPort 1.2 to Disable)

* Open the U2415 User's Guide
* Go to pages 27-28

* Open the OSD (On Screen Display) on #1 U2415
* Go to Display
* Set DisplayPort 1.2 to Enable
* Exit the OSD

* Open the OSD (On Screen Display) on #2 U2415
* Go to Display
* Set DisplayPort 1.2 to Disable
* Exit the OSD

Agreed. Monitors are working fine by themselves and I agree it could be due to Intel HD Graphics 4000 adapter in my Think T430s. I believe newer laptops have new graphics that could support DP 1.2 and daisy chaining.

With this in mind I am not sure if even mini Displayport splitter from laptop would give me the intended result. i.e.

Laptop mDP out --> mDP splitter -->

split-1 --> First U2415 DP in

spit-2 --> Second U2415 DP in

I do not think that the monitors are at fault here. It could be a restriction of the Thinkpad T430s. Ask the users on this Forum.

Yes. The description on page 7, "1920 x 1200 resolution, plus full-screen support for lower resolutions.", applies to all computer driven (HDMI/HDMI/DP/mDP). MHL HDMI (Mobile High-Definition Link) is not the same as HDMI. An MHL device is a cell phone or a Roku Streaming Stick, not a laptop or desktop computer.

Thank you. Then any idea why am I not getting 1920x1200 resolution when connected via HDMI? Agreed I am using VGA to HDMI adapter in the middle.

If the VGA on the laptop is locked to 1080, using a VGA to HDMI adapter cannot upgrade the original VGA out to 1200.
