U2515H, HDMI max resolution 2048x1152

My u2515h has a max resolution of 2048x1152 over HDMI

Has there been any update on this situation?

I am using a Gainward GTX460 GLH and NVidia 358.50 Drivers

I am using the supplied driver which shows a max resolution of 2560x1440 in the .inf file for HDMI

I have used two different HDMI cables which support 4K and both the Graphics card and monitor support v1.4

Why is it displaying a max of 2048x1152 and it also show recommended as been 1080p,1920x1080 in NVidia control panel.

The only time 2048x1152 60Hz would be the maximum is when something in the HDMI chain is not HDMI 1.4. All four (monitor, cable, video card HDMI port, video card driver) must be HDMI 1.4 to get 2560x1440 60Hz. The monitor HDMI hardware is 1.4. So that leaves either the cable, the port on the video card, or the video card driver as the culprit. Or the port on the monitor is defective? Did you test both monitor HDMI ports? Some users with have created a custom resolution using a lower Hz setting of 50Hz to 59Hz to get 2560x1440.

The Graphics card is actually 1.4a which supports 2560x1440

HDMI cable supports 4K

Did you test both monitor HDMI in ports? Did you test the custom resolution option? You might also want to test older versions of the Nvidia driver to see if they also have the same issue.

Yes I have checked both ports.  I have even gone to the bother of getting a hdmi 2.0 spec cable and have tried various nVidia drivers and nothing has automatically given the option to select 2560x1440 as a resolution.

I am starting to wander if there is an issue with the hdmi controller on the monitor.

Gainward GTX460GLH confirmed hdmi 1.4

Maby this monitor needs a firmware update?

I have also tried a Dual Link DVI to hdmi adapter which did not work!

It is revision A02.

Also I was on to technical support earlier today but had to end the session early so outcome was not completed.

What exactly does holding the two outer buttons at the same time do? Is it some sort of monitor reset? as when I did this I just saw a plain grey screen for a few minutes, I was not told what it was doing!

What revision is this (A00, A01) ? We do not have any mechanism in place to allow customers to flash the firmware on this Dell monitor.

I have never heard of this button combination? I have no idea what they were trying. Per the warranty, you may initiate a monitor exchange. Test the replacement before sending any monitor back to Dell. If the replacement does not have the issue, keep it and send us the original. If the replacement has the SAME issue, the monitors were not at fault. Send the replacement back to Dell. Look to the computer operating system drivers or hardware as the culprit.

Pressing the two buttons together is a diagnostic test cycling through some screens.

Before I decide to go down the exchange route I want you to confirm to me that the native resolution of 2560X1440p @60Hz is supported by the HDMI port as the manual is not actually clear on that.

Can I see the documentation that proves it is supported? Can you show me the output of a diagnostic test?

I actually have to try and decide to look for a refund because if I look for an exchange monitor and it has the same issues I am not sure if I am still in a timeframe for looking for a refund under DSR.

They actually should have used a DVI port on this monitor

I know I have another issue with the power button as it fails to respond at times when turning off the monitor.

The manual page 6 states =
2560 x 1440 resolution, plus full-screen support for lower resolutions

It does not differentiate between HDMI, DP and mDP. So that statement applies to all three.

I would also like to ask should this monitor be free from banding while viewing a grey gradient on screen, seeing as this is using an 8 bit panel.  Or would you consider it normal for this panel?

Read this review which discusses banding three times during calibration. Basically they are showing how to avoid it.

Yes, they say that did not notice any in their sample and how to minimise it while creating a profile.

My question is related to what I can see with the standard setting using the supplied profile.

I know if I go to create a profile using custom settings the banding is more obvious.
