I have a Dell U2711 which has the SD card readers built in. I use these readers constantly to transfer photos from my camera's SD cards to my computer. I just got a new camera and the MP count went up from 5MP to 27MP -- so file size has significantly increased. To be able to take as many pictures with my new camera as I used to take with my old camera, I need to jump from 16GB SDHC cards to 64MB SDXC cards, but before I jump all the way to 64MB, I want to find out if the U2711's SD readers can handle 64GB SDXC cards (not just 64GB cards but, specifically, 64GB SDXC cards).
SDXC was not validated on the U2711 =
Because SDXC uses a different file system called exFAT and it works differently than standard SD cards, this new format is not backwards compatible with host devices (monitors) that only take SD (128MB to 2GB) or SDHC (4GB to 32GB).
You will need to purchase a newer external Card Reader that plugs directly into a USB port on the computer.
