U2711 picture sharpness.
Hi,
I got the above monitor today and have the following issue.
At the native resolution and other resolutions approaching that, text is fuzzy and pictures are also blurry.
I have tried two different Dual Link DVI cables, as the problem appears similar to the wrong DVI cable problem. I have also replaced the power cable and checked all internal and external connections. Tried different DVI connections to both my GPU and monitor. I have also reinstalled display drivers and GPU drivers.
Looking in the menu I notice that when I go in to 'Display Settings' - 'Wide Mode' and change from FILL to 1:1 the display area is considerable smaller bu the text appears to be displayed correctly and sharply.
My GPU: HIS 5850 iCooler V Turbo.
Hope you can help and sorry if this is a n00b question?

Hi,
I will post up some pictures I just took.
However, I have now tried using the Displayport and now have full native resolution.
Furthermore when I did a screen grab and sent it to a friend to have a look at he reported that the image was crystal clear.
This is telling that the issue most probably resides with the actual monitor itself rather than my system or my GPU.
Does this help?

So you sent him a picture of the monitor using DP and it looked ok. Post a picture of the monitor using DVI on FILL and 1:1 here.

I can confirm that both DVI cables I used were dual link DVI.

Fill @2560x1440 on DVI.
1:1 @2560x1440 on DVI.
What I actually see is quite different. I'll post that up next.

I do not know if the monitor is at fault. But, contact UK Technical Support. Explain the issues and have them setup a monitor exchange. You will keep the original until the replacement arrives. If the replacement U2711 acts the same way, then we will know that the original monitor was fine. Then, send the replacement back and we can look at the video card or the cabling as the culprit.

Hi,
I bought a 7970 and now have no problem whatsoever with the screen resolution over Dual Link DVI. Must have been my old 5850 or some messed up driver issue I suppose. However, I do have another question please! When my PC enters power saving mode, the monitor fails to wake up and I have to reset the PC which is really annoying. Is there a fix for this?
