U2715H, randomly goes black

I am experiencing random daily blackouts of the U2715H whereby the screen goes black and then re-displays whatever was on the screen. The U2715H also sometimes makes a popping sound simultaneously. There do not appear to be any common set of conditions or actions that lead to the problem, nor any specific time-frame within which it occurs. Once the U2715H starts doing this it can be hard to recover. Turning the U2715H off and on again is only of marginal use in terms of rectifying the immediate issue. Today I tried that and it had no effect.
 
The U2715H is connected to a Dell Inspiron 5570 (Intel Core i7) laptop via an HDMI cable, with the cable connected to its primary HDMI port. The laptop does not have a display port and hence it is not possible to use DP cable that came with the U2715H. However, in theory, an HDMI connection should be sufficient.
 
This is a new U2715H purchased through Amazon UK in January 2019. The laptop is just over a year old. The latest drivers for the laptop and U2715H have been installed from the Dell UK website.
 
A factory reset of the U2715H has been performed and has not resolved the issue.
 
I'd be grateful for any suggestions as to how to fix this. Alternatively, if you think this is a compatibility issue and nothing can be done, please let me know.  Many thanks.
