U2717D DP1.2 not compatible with Mac Pro DP 1.1?
Hi guys,
I've just bought a Dell U2717D monitor (to replace my old 24inch Dell) but I can't get it to work with my Mac Pro (Mid2010) 6-core Intel Xeon (OS 10.9.5) with its original ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB graphics card.
When I connect the monitor via DP/miniDP it will not detect the Mac at all, it will say 'no dp signal detected' and go into standby mode soon after. However when I hook it up to my MacBook Air or my iMac it works fine instantly, so I know it's not the cable. I've also tried connecting the U2717D to the Mac Pro via DVI-DP cable but still no luck...
I'm posting this here to see if anyone had the same issue or if you've seen a similar problem before. I wonder if upgrading the Mac OS to Sierra would fix this (haven't tried it yet as I my Apogee Duet audio interface will not work anymore then) or if the Radeon HD 5770 is simply too old for the new monitor...
Thanks for your help!

Found the solution!
The U2717D default setting is DP1.2, while the Mac Pro/ATI graphics card is DP1.1. In the U2717D OSD Menu, under 'Input Source' selection, press and hold the 'DP' key for 8 seconds to change the monitor setting from DP 1.2 to DP 1.1a and the monitor will work with older Mac Pro's.

Thanks for commenting, setting to dp1.1 worked beautifully for my 2009 27" iMac11,1 via an MDP -> MDP cable (ATI Radeon HD 4850).
For people in future: The U2717D would work temporarily after setting the iMac to mirror displays, but once it went to sleep would not work again.
