U3014, random hue shifts
Hi, I'm looking for an answer or at least a diagnosis to a problem I have with a Dell U3014 shifting sporadically into a slight red hue and then back. The shift is instant, and absolute, but always quick. It never sits on the red for long. There's no gradual change, and sometimes I can go hours without seeing a shift. Sometimes it will be every second back and forth.
Some background:
I'm using a Windows 10 system with a dual monitor setup: The Dell WFP2407 (primary) and the U3014 monitors. I'm a photoshop user and I generally think I understand colour calibration, and currently use the iDisplay Pro hardware and software for calibration. I use the basic suite rather than the Dell Color Calibration Solution for the U3014 because I find the quality of the Dell-modified solution is lousy, with colours too red and off-base from what I've calibrated to on the 2407 for many years. The default iDisplay suite produces good results on both monitors that are reasonably reflected in printing.
I'm using a GeForce 1060 and previously used an AMD card. The flicker has existed on both cards. There's no shift on the 2407, and the shift can be seen across the whole screen regardless of what programs are open.
The U3014 was bought last year as an OEM model from a Dell reseller.
So right now I don't know if this is a dual-monitor graphics conflict, an ICC profile conflict (is Windows constantly trying to apply two profiles to the monitor somehow?), or is it a problem with the U3014?
Any insight is appreciated.
EDIT: After observing the monitor some more and trying to eliminate possibilities, I've noticed three more things:
- It appears the problem occurs whether the cable is hdmi or dp
- The monitor doesn't show any signs of shifting for at least several minutes after being off, and then begins.
- A self-test using the 1+4 buttons doesn't show any signs of shifting on any colour if I've turned the computer off. If I start a test after the monitor starts to shift, without unplugging anything, the test reveals the shifts too.

Hi LordEdwin,
Thanks for posting.
I would turn off all three (computer, U3014, 2407WFP). Disconnect the 2407WFP from the computer. Test the U3014 as the primary standalone monitor.
Here is some information you may also find helpful.
