U3415W, DDM, compatibility with Microsoft SP4 (Surface Pro 4) ?

We have been using the U3415W successfully for some time with a standard Fujitsu desktop PC, during which time the DDM grid system has worked without a glitch.

However, we've recently bought in some SP4's and connected them to the U3415W. The U3415W's are working fine, however, DDM is very temperamental. You can set the grid to a specific format. But, if you dock/undock the SP4, the grid selection defaults to the red cross i.e. no grid selection. DDM is still running but there is no grid selected. We have to keep re-selecting the grid selection at least once a day.  Anyone else had any similar issues, or have any suggestions for troubleshooting this please?

The fact that DDM was working fine prior to adding the SP4 points to the SP4 operating system as the possible culprit. Have you also asked the SP4 users on their Forum if they have seen the issue?

Hi Chris, thanks for coming back to me.  Do you know if there are any registry key entries which control the behaviour of DDM?  Is there any documentation on this application please?

If the U3415W is connected to the Microsoft Dock, and you undock the SP4, the U3415W is no longer connected to the SP4 and EA will no be available. So undocking is supposed to disable DDM.

If you reconnect the dock to the SP4, and the U3415W becomes active again, DDM should restore your settings. Re-docking is supposed to re-enable DDM.

If that isn't happening, then it may be do to Windows' hotplug event messaging, which triggers a DDM refresh. Make sure you are using the latest version of DDM (b.1899), and if the problem persists try manually triggering a DDM refresh: while holding down the SHIFT key, right-click on the DDM system tray icon and select "Refresh" from the popup menu.

(From that same menu there's also a "Save diagnostic report" option, which - if needed - you can use to pinpoint what happened in the event of a failed or changed refresh.)

Thanks for this.  Where can we get v1899 of DDM from please?  We currently have v1897.

We do not have registry key entry documentation for DDM. The only documentation would be the DDM User's Guide.
