UP2414Q won't reliably resume from sleep or reboot using mDP to DP cable

Monitor = UP2414Q
Video card = Sapphire R9 270
Cable = Dell mDP to DP
Computer = i5 CPU,  32GB
Operating System = Windows 7 64bit (latest drivers, bios etc.)
Display set to 3840x2160 - DP 1.2
No other monitors, video cards or associated drivers are installed.

Monitor is brand new. I have 30 years of experience, building, programming, administering a huge variety of PC systems.  I know the difference between hardware, BIOS, firmware, drivers. etc. About half the time, the monitor will not properly resume from the computer being asleep, or from a warm or cold reboot of the system, i.e.  The monitor will need to be powered off and powered back on for the display to resume, and/or the display will resume in an incorrect resolution and the AMD video card drivers will display one of the following messages:
1)   "The system as detected a problem with the connection between your computer and the displayport display the will prevent you from using the highest resolutions and/or refresh rates..."
or
2) "The system has detected and link failure and cannot set the requested resolution on your displayport display..."

Since the display will often be blank during reboot (no BIOS messages displayed, monitor power-off/power-on required), before windows has started, it does not have anything to do with Windows, drivers or any other software. This points to a hardware and/or firmware/video card bios issue between the video card and monitor. Correct DP 1.2 communication is not occuring consistently.

I am waiting for the arrival of a new accell displayport 1.2 cable that I've ordered to see if that helps.

Please advise what video cards have been tested with this monitor to work correctly using 3840x2160 60hz, DP 1.2.

Please advise if there is a monitor firmware update available to address this issue.

Please advise what other steps I can take to resolve the issue.

For those users who do have a qualified DP1.2 video card and driver, and still have issues:
* Go into the monitor OSD (On Screen Display) -Display Settings
* Set DisplayPort 1.2 to Disable and use the monitor at 3840x2160 30Hz
* This is under investigation. Do not get any monitor exchanges. The replacements will have the same issue. When I know more, I will post it

Also having the same issues.

DP 1.2 3840x2160 60hz

NVidia GTX 780 ACX (EVGA brand)

Tried every version of NVidia drivers so far (Feb 18 drivers do not fix the issue)

Same issue with mDP to DP and my own DP 1.2 DP to DP cable.

Windows 8.1 x64

S/N: CN-06X55C-74445-3BL-089L

Using 30 Hz mode is not acceptable! 60 Hz 4K is the main selling point of this monitor! I might as well have bought a Seiki 4K for half the price if I wanted 4K 30 Hz!

Hi Chris

I have 2 UP2414Q's. They are both unusable at 60hz DP 1.2. I got an email from you to return them, but I purchased them via Amazon. Is there a way to register them with Dell? They do not have a service tag so as far as I can see I cannot register them.

* Go back to the top of this Monitor Forum
* Open "FAQ Monitor"
* Open "No Dell Service Tag number? No registration? Exchange instructions"

Hello

I am having exactly the same problem - the two screens frequently do not wake up after a computer sleep or shutdown. I have to power off and on at least once. I am using the included DP to mDP cables connected to a late 2013 Mac Pro running OS X 10.9.3. DP 1.2 is enabled. Is there any update on this issue - it is a real pain.

Thanks, Ben

We do not test on apple hardware, so how can there be an update? DELL-Chris M

I'm wanting an update also. Chris, I seen on a different forum (like this) there is a firmware update to A01. I would like to know how I can get this exchange. Like many, I want the DP 1.2 issue resolved.

huffandy,

Contact Customer Support and request a used/refurbished exchange to get the A01 revision. A new exchange will only get you the A00 revision.

Hi, Chris, I am having trouble. I need a service tag number. And when I call customer support they transfer me the technical support. Do I say I need a new monitor, I said I wanted the new revision one and they were confused. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Andrew

24" and smaller monitors do not have a service tag number. Customer Support should be asking for the Dell Order number. No, not new, only a used exchange will be the newest revision.

Hi, they referred me to EVGA on this issue.  I did a support ticket for EVGA and for this case, using MST (Daisy-chaining) on the single monitor they said it was the TITAN BIOS and that was it.  So, they are going to replace the BIOS with an MST compatible one for free!  It was covered under warranty, so I am in luck :emotion-2:

I am thinking about buying this monitor new. You have advised that the issue can only be fixed by a used monitor exchange. Are the new monitors being sold through the Dell website A01 or still AO0? In other words are the new monitors still exhibiting the issue?

The A01 revision still has the same issue. I have 2 of them. Both have the problem.

Is this issue showing up with all video cards, or is it just a few? I have a quadro k4000.
