UP3017 USB PORTS doesn't seem to work.

Jump to solution

I've plugged several external hard drives both kinds that require power adapter, as well as portable ones that do not need power adapters, and I've tried little USB flash drives, and nothing seems to work. You can hear the Hard Drive making sounds, reving up when it's plugged in, and you can tell it's spinning like normal. But I can't find the Hard drives anywhere in "THIS PC." Also in Disk Management, it doesn't even show up as unallocated.

Where do I start to fix this? The monitor itself, the computer itself, or windows 10? Please advise, thank you.

Nevermind... figured it out. Duh!

If you've never owned a LCD with a built in hub, some common sense may elude you. Smiley Happy I looked at my packaging and found a usb upstream cable. It never crossed my mind. I thought these hubs should just work since the Monitor is getting power.

So I'm curious about something... I have 4 usb ports and 2 upstream ports. Say I decide to use all 4 ports. Is that 2nd upstream port in case I need more power? Just curious why there are two?

Glad that you figured it out. All Dell monitors require the USB upstream cable connected to the computer USB port to have use of the USB downstream ports.

The two USB 3.0 upstream ports would be used for two computers connecting to the UP3017 video in ports. Each USB 3.0 upstream cable would be connected to its own computer. Then, as per the User's Guide page 37, you would open the Menu- USB Selection and switch to the USB 3.0 upstream port 1 or 2 to connect to the connected 1 or 2 computer.
