UP3214Q/UP2414Q - 1/2 screen issue and/or No picture after powering off, then on
I got some more problems with the UP3214Q: Every couple of computer starts, once I get the login screen displayed, only half the screen shows a picture (the right hand side), with the left half being black. After login, I get the full picture. Prior to the login screen, I also have full screen picture (BIOS screen, Windows loading screen). The second issue is even more annoying: If I power off the device while my PC is still running, then power it back on, I will never get a picture again. No amount of hitting random keys and klicking about (I can hear windows and moan in the background If I manage to blindly hit the wrong option) will get back any picture. Neither will switching to another input then back, nor will unplugging the displayport cable from the machine, or putting the machine to sleep and returning it back from sleep. The only way to get the picture back is to shut down the shut down the machine completely, then boot it up again. Is this supposed to happen or is something wrong with my display?

I still get a wake up issue on mac pro but rarely. I've owned this monitor for about 3 weeks and it only has happened twice so far. The fix is basically just turn off the monitor for about 10 seconds and turn it back on. It's annoying but it's not too bad given the frequency of occurrence.

@desmond86: it is mostly an issue with nVidia cards, though not only - you'll find the occasional AMD affected user as well in this thread. I've personally experienced it in an ATI card, after switching OS and driver. Those of us who have an intel card, have yet other issues to deal with.
Bottom line, the whole thing is still in beta, and we're nearing the 1 year point of this screen's release. Dell now coming out with a 5K screen using stiched displays yet again, seems a recipe for disaster given the current state of affairs.
And they're still shipping A00 screens, at least here in Europe (I got a new exchange.. it came as an A00 and of course has the usual issues).
But given that you have AMD and no issues, I'm wondering: do you get 2560x1440 and 1920x1080 at 60Hz in DP 1.2 mode? If the half screen/sleep issues are sorted, 2560x1440@60 is what I really want to run my screen when gaming as I don't have SLI to keep up with the full resolution.

No, with the AMD card in Windows I get (60Hz):
With the Nvidia card in Windows I had (60Hz):
On Mac OS X I get with both cards (60Hz Nvidia / 30Hz AMD):
That's the resolutions that is offered to me, I did not try to create custom resolutions.

@desmond86: very interesting. So it seems AMD and nVidia have some work to do with their Windows drivers, but should now what is to be done given that it will be them making the OS X drivers as well.
I take it the resolutions you get in OS X are all 60Hz, correct?

Apple is making the drivers for both AMD and Nvidia but Nvidia also provides their own Web Driver.
If I remember correctly, I was offered 60Hz on all resolutions and even 75 Hz on lower resolutions on the Nvidia card.
I could not get the display to work at 60Hz on the AMD card, only at 30Hz. I will buy Nvidia card again in a few weeks and can give you a more precise answer then.

I`m working with UP3214Q for about two weeks... Videocard- Sapphire Radeon R9 295X2 1030Mhz PCI-E 3.0 8192Mb 5200Mhz 1024 bit DVI HDCP, monitor connected via miniDP-miniDP 1.2, drivers- AMD Catalyst Package 14.7beta (14.4- less stable). Win 8.1 x64. Runs @ 4K/60Hz.
It`s can work for hours without problems, but sometimes (very often) lost DP connection and turned OFF for few seconds. Sometimes reboot system. Sometimes crash the system and only poderOFF whole PC can return PC to life.....
And Dell Color Calibration does not works: USB not detected (but he IS connected :) ).
At startup not every time shows 4K- just stretch 1920x2160 at whole screen (very stretched picture).
Very surprised with SO MANY problems with hi-end hardware. :(

Well, i received monitor last night, it worked 5-6h(i imidalty swaped to 1.2 dp so i can have 60hz) , than problems started. It started to go to powersaving mode on random ... during my work, and during my game , than it shows half screen, etc. I also having problems waking monitor up from sleeping mode ( works only if u restart/shut down pc )... consider fact that i am using this for job( i am professional poker player , and i have a lot of money at tables during my sessions ) this is not acceptible ... i played session and it dropped in middle of it , making me lose at least 500$ for 2-3 minutes of not waking up ... i am returing tmrw this monitor and will ask for refund .
Its such a shame , this good product not to work properly.
And yes i have very serious rig in my office ( devil13 hd7990 gpu with possibility to have 5 monitors attached, support 1.2 and support mini dp and so on , i74960x, sabertooth x79 , intel ssd780 480gb, 4x4 kingston beast, seasonic 1000w psu , apc psu , and so on ) ... i have 4 monitors on table and never got problems before .
