u2713hm resolution

Hi,

I have recently bought a Dell U2713HM and I have a Clevo computer with an Amd Radeon Hd7970M video card running Win7 32bit. I'm trying to use the DVI cable supplied and the DVI port on the laptop  but I don't get to the native resolution. Is there a trick I don't know about? I'm using the VGA port in the meanwhile with 2048x1152 resolution, but I would expect DVI-D to work.

Any help Please

Hi

I try to found the solution.

I try the dvi, (max 1600 - 1200)(above this resolution gave the computer "band width not available")   the vga, (2048 - 1148) the hdmi (1920 - 1080) everything nothing worked

Till I start playing with the refresh frequencies.

I put this at 30 hz and the wonder was there !! Now I could via the DVI connector have a resolution of 2560 * 1440.

I hoop this is a help for other people.

Hi Henri,

Could you tell me if 2560 x 1440 30Hz custom resolution could work also with VGA ?
Do you see any kind of flickering with 30Hz refresh ?

When using VGA @ 2048 x 1148, is the image scaled to fill the screen ? Does the scaling looks good ?

Thanks !

Chris

Just a guess here based on similar (frustrating) experiences. It sure sounds like a cable problem to me. I'm no expert by any stretch, but I believe dvi only supports 1920 x 1200; however, there is also "dual link" dvi which supports 2560 x 1400. So first be sure the video card supports dual link dvi, then make sure the cable is dual link dvi.

I've fallen in this trap a couple times now. Hope it helps some other poor soul!   :)

Here's a nice page explaining this stuff:   http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/32524/
