Have you connected the USB extension cable from the computer to the monitor?  The USB ports will not work from the data cable.

Have you rebooted? Turn off the computer completely using Shutdown--not Sleep or Hibernate, wait a minute and then restart. That can cure many glitches. Post back if that doesn't work and include more info--operating system, computer model etc.

Yes, have rebooted many times. The usb on the computer works fine.
