Active Directory Backup with NMM 3.0

Hello,

With NMM 2.4, i used "nsrsnap_vss_save" to do the backup of my domain controler.

It was fine, the restore easy.

Now with NMM 3.0 i can't use this command.

The only way is to do a DISASTER RECOVERY.

But i don't want to do a DISASTER RECOVERY to recover the AD database.

I don't want to do a granular.

How i can do a backup of the AD database with NMM 3.0 ?

Thanks a lot for you help.

Ok, it's clear for me.

NMM 3.0 isn't able anymore to do a backup of the entire Active Directory database.

Only a granular backup.

NWC can do a full AD backup via WINDOWS ROLES AND FEATURES. (p728 of Administration Guide of NW 8.1)

And it's not necessary to do a Disaster recovery.

Hello,

This is quite simple.

NMM 3.0 is an APPLICAITON_ONLY module, in other words, it is completely independent from any File System related backups.

To backup AD you have to backup system components with NW client, no longer need NMM unless you want to perform granular backup and restore of AD.

Please check the NMM application guide for further information.

Thank you,

Carlos

Ok i understand.

My backup with saveset "All" works fine.

With this backup i can restore my AD database without th obligation to do a disaster recovery of the controler ?

And i can't find the Application guide.

I have the Portfolio for NMM 3.0 but no aaplication guide for AD inside.

Explaination for granular backup, granular restore, but nothing about backup and restore of the entire DB.

Like start from scratch... without disaster recovery, i can't do it (impossible to have the networker driver 32/64 bits from Cisco for UCS to boot with iso for disaster...)

Sorry,

Documentation schema has changed in NMM 3.0

Check the Administration Guide, pages 110 to 120.

Thank you,

Carlos

Well, I would rephrase that sentence, as indeed you are doing a full backup of AD DB however it changes the mechanism in NMM 3.0

But yes, you are about right

Thank you,

Carlos
