DFC bkp not working with AIX Client backing up Filesystem data.

DFC bkp not working with AIX Client backing up Filesystem data.

DDOS 5.7

DD 7200

Networker Server 8.2.2 , Windows 2008 r2

Client package : 8.2.3 , type : AIX

Kindly let me know if AIX Clients Support DD Boost Over FC backups , if yes , kindly advise how to verify if the backup is actually backed up over FC as the logs are not indicating anything.

Carlos Rojas, Hrvoje CrvelinWilliam Mason Preston de Guise : Your inputs would be highly appreciated.

Hi,

You can check the DDBOOST library you are using, it should be For NW 8.2.3 - DD Boost library 3.1.0.1.

Also, there is a DFC driver required in AIX for taking backups over DFC to DD.

What exactly are you backing up  FS, DB or applications, are they compatible with the DFC backups. You can check the compatibility at CompGuideApp

Also Abhishek, run lsdev command on AIX and see if you are able to DFC devices on AIX, the output should be something like this:

# lsdev

DDdfc        Available      Data Domain      DDdfc Release 1.0.0.4

DDdfc1      Available      Data Domain      DDdfc Release 1.0.0.4

this command will only revert with this output when you have the right DFC driver in AIX host as well. Read this KB article this should help you as well: https://support.emc.com/kb/464964

let me know if this works and you are able to see devices on AIX server.
