Detect Additional hard drives
Hi,
1.SAN- Take a general senario in how to detected addtional hard drive which needs to be used for extending existing volume group
2. Networker how to instialise or detect the newly attached harddrive or device for snapshot ---not mentioning about the tape library

You made a good job if your goal was to make your question unclear
If NW is handling snapshots, then it calls snapshot API or script and remaining dependencies are handled by API or SAN guys in respect to relationship. If using PowerSnap, you need to update pool file where you list relationship between primary and snapshot volume. How depends on underlaying storage.
