How to remove specified letters from Networker NMM Exchange Backups?
Hi!
I have EMC Networker 8.1.1.2.Build.280 Network Edition and NMM v.3.0.1. I make non-DAG backups Exchange Server using NMM every day. Sometimes, my boss ask me delete from all backups of Exchange Server some letters from users mailboxes. How can i do this?

Hello holdcable
I'm afraid what you are asking is not supported/possible.
If I understood correctly you want to delete some MB's from within the backup, correct? If so then no, that is not possible, as there is no granularity within the NMM savesets to do this.
Thank you,
Carlos

Thanks for the answer. I want to delete not entire mailbox from within the backup, i want to delete some email messages from user's mailbox from within the backup. It is more granularity then you wrote.

Nope, that is not possible.
Since EX 2007, Backup is no longer done via MAPI
Thus, NMM has to do Backupsof the EDB and LOG Files from a (Software) VSS Snapshot of the DB/Log Disks
It does not know anything about mails and their structure until you start a restore, wich Mounts the files / disks into RSG /RDB.
What you are looking for is archival with deletion, not Backup. Maybe Source One might help here.
Then you would use short term Backup´s with short Retention Time + a Long Term Archive with Deltetion
