Log Reporting in Networker 7.6.4

Hello Folks,

Every month while performing test restoration of random files from select client nodes, I face a problem to get restoration/backup logs.

I am simply taking screenshots of the "success" window and pasting it in a word file and then treating that as a report.

I am quite sure there has to be a better way of fetching reports.

Can anyone please help to let me know how to do so?

Thanks

Harshal

The session will be stored in /nsr/logs/networkr.raw.

At least with a Windows GUI you could also mark the important/all lines and copy then as usual to the editor of your choice.

networkr.raw is for Microsoft Windows clients only.

To track Unix client restore process, you may manually run restore command with –D3 or D9 on Unix clients.

You can create your own logs files using notification in administration

Right click and select component and provide action as below command

nsrlog -f "E:\Legato\nsr\logs\xxx.log"

If you are confident with scripting you can parse the daemon.raw file, you will need to figure out the relevant message codes for success and failure as these are undocumented, at least to non EMC people!  Alternatively you can go to the NMC GUI (not the window you monitor your server with, the master NMC window) and go to the reporting tab and you can run some reports from there.  Or you can invest in DPA backup reporting software.
