Media marked full before full utilization
Networker 8.
Our media size is 4TB, but why it's marked full before that.

LTO4 doesn't have media size of 4TiB for sure
LTO4 native is 800GiB, LTO5 is 1.5TiB, LTO6 is 2.5TiB and LTO7 is 6TiB. With compression applied it goes beyond those values, but how much is everyone's guess since it depends on data. So, if your volume contains dumps which are compressed, hardware compression won't be able to do much and you might not move much beyond native values. Second, some drivers and implementation (eg. IBM) require you use their own device handlers - and if not then no compression is applied. In your case, we see compression is applied to other volumes so I assume device handles are ok. So, it is either media content or some external event (like scsi bus reset) which caused full volume marking to appear earlier than expected.

I forgot to mention that the number may vary depending on the compressability of the raw data.
So '% used' is only an estimate value, except for disk volumes.
It is calculated as follows:
amount of data written
% used = ----------------------------------------------
default capacity for this device
So far, only you know the device type.

An admin can set any media to 'full' as long as it is not mounted.
For example, this is done on tapes after a clone task has ended to avoid different retention dates.
A tape (and probably a disk media) is set to full after the number of write retry attempts (default: 20) has been reached.
Usually, the drive will also be set to service mode at this time.
If unmounted, you can set the media to appendable again:
nsrmm -o notfull
Do not forget to re-enable your device after solving the problem.

We have LTO Ultrium-4 tapes .
Is there any side effects of manually setting mode to appendable.

This can also happen when the media database is corrupted.
Check for this keyword in daemon log. "Wiss" and post the above and below lines around this string in daemon log.
