NMM 2.4 Sharepoint 2010 backup

Hi folks,

I wanted to configure a backup of sharepoint 2010 with Networker 7.6.2 so I installed the new nmm 2.4

Since I already use nmm 2.3 for backin up exchange 2010 I thought it should not be soo difficult.

I installed networker client 7.6.2 and then nmm 2.4 on one sharepoint frontend server.

I configured the group and the sharepoint frontend server client resource in FQDN format

My first simle setup was to backup 'All' saveset to see how it works, and if the basic setup is ok, I will need file backup and system components anyway in my backup.

The first error I got in this configuration was:

82296:nsrsnap_vss_save:NMM .. Operation unit failed with error 'Please make sure you have configured at least one NetWorker Device and client resources are configured for the application host[XXXXXX01.domain] and the proxy client[xxxxxx01.domain] on NetWorker Server [servername]'.Possible cause: 1)Unsupported file system or 2)write-protected disc or 3)No space on disc or 4)Drive not found

I replaced the servernames, the thing to notice is that the application host is in upper case and the proxy client is lowercase, so since I already configured the client in FQDN format i thought it could be because of the upper or lower case, I was not really sure because I found no real information that this could be an issue, I treid to set the proxy: NSR_DATA_MOVER=XXXXXX01.domain

seemed cool, that error didn't appear, but after the import snapshot stage nothing happened, after some time I got this messages:

77320:libpsvssclnt: Failed to accept incoming connection for rsh command execution: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

can someone help me to figure out why I get this errors? it seems like 2 components want to connect to each other on localhost but they fail....

greetings

Are you trying to take backup of File system.

If not then All wont work here as a saveset.

Viewing valid application data save sets

When configuring a client resource, you are required to enter the save sets in the Save Set

attribute of the client resource. To display a list of the application data save sets that are

available for backup:

1. Open a command prompt on the application server.

2. If the application server is not on a virtual host, type:

nsrsnap_vss_save -?

Example output:

“APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft DPM\DPM database.”

“APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft DPM\Volume C: on server”

“mars.saturn.company.com”

3. Press Enter.

Each line of output corresponds to a save set entry that you can add to the Save Set

attribute of a client resource. Each entry that you add to the Save Set attribute must be

typed on a separate line. Remove the inverted commas when copying the save set

name from the output.

Hi, thank you very much for your response, but I indeed use 'All' as saveset and in the beginning of the report it resolves all savesets:

* XXXXXX01.domain 52051:nsrsnap:Printing savecmd=nsrsnap_vss_save.exe after parsing

* XXXXXX01.domain 79549:nsrsnap:[nsrsnap.c 1907] Invoking command: "nsrsnap_vss_save.exe -A  optype=conventional  -A "NSR_SNAP_TYPE=vss"  -A "NSR_DATA_MOVER=XXXXXX01.domain"  -A "NSR_IGNORE_MISSING_SYSTEM_FILES=yes"  -A NSR_PARENT_JOBID=0  -c XXXXXX01.domain -g "SHAREPOINT-10" -LL -m XXXXXX01.domain -s xxxxxxxx -l full -q -W 78  -A snap_sessionid=1348833455  -A NSR_STRICT_SYNC=0 "SYSTEM COMPONENTS:\ S:\ P:\ C:\ B:\

in my opinion the actual problem to check in this case is:

libpsvssclnt: Failed to accept incoming connection for rsh command execution: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

nsrsnap_vss_save -? only gives outputs for applications, it doesn't include file system savesets.

some oder ideas?

Samuel

Hi all, strangely today 'All' saveset worked, maybe a restart or something caused it....

it seems the communication between this two components work, so 'All' is ok, also System Components, now I tried to backup Sharepoint, but now I get following error:

* XXXXXX01.domain 82624:nsrsnap_vss_save:Save set name APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft Office SharePoint Services is valid.

     * :  Failed with error(s)

nmm.raw and Windows Application log contains the same entries.....

do someone have an idea?

Hi Samuel,

May I suggest you upgrade the client another time but then to 7.6.3.7 (build0898). I have seen this problem before with 7.6.2 clients and it was resolved by upgrading the client...

Regards,

Jeroen
