NMM 9.1 Exchange 2016 backup fails mit "not enough storage"

Hello together,

I have some problems with the backup of an Exchange 2016 CU5 DAG on Windows Server 2016.

NMM 9.1.1.1 and Netwoker Client 9.1.1.1 is installed. NSR Config Checker tells me all is fine.

The environment is new and have never been backuped. Here is the error I get from the nsrnmmsv.raw:

nsrnmmsv NSR critical 59 Unable to gather target file information for %s, reason %s. 2 23 153 \\?\C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\tmp\BBBMountPoint\131426791213282413_{BB42CE0B-9065-4F07-A7FF-B59E5CBD0AEF}_36292\EXDB\DE-MUE-DB02\DE-MUE-DB02.edb 24 38 There is not enough space on the disk.

But there is enough storage. The Exchange Database "DE-MUE-DB02" is about 15 GB big and on drive C: are 275 GB of free space.

There is also no problem with VSS. I can create normal Shadow Copies and I also tried a backup with "Windows Server Backup" which runs fine.

Does somebody got an idea?

Thanks

Best regards

No, VSS seems to run fine

Do you see any errors reported by VSS in event log?

You are right:

I try to save the Database from drive F: and the snapshot got mounted on C:

The database is about 15 GB big and on C: there is about 275 GB of free space.

I assume unde C snapshot would be mounted, but DB itself is elsewhere - is there space on that disk?

... and how much space there is on F?  If you try to make snapshot manually there does it work?

On F there are about 400 GB of free space.

Is has nothing to do with free space because on all drives is enough space.

A normal snapshot is no problem. Also a Backup with "Windows Server Backup" is no problem

I have a different error trying to backup MSEXCH2016 CU5 and checking CU5 is only supported in 9.1.1.3 and above. I'll try with this new version.

The only way to make it work is changing the disk format from NTFS to ReFS. I don't know why, NTFS is supported and the new version support the CU5.

Same Problem here,

Changing the disk format to ReFS didn't work for me,

I am working with EMC to solve this problem last few days.

Hi,

Working with EMC L2 Support we managed to fix this issue by installing a Hotfix for nsrnmmsv binary. BUG # 281814.

If you have same problem, contact EMC Support.

Have you some antivirus on Exchange nodes?
