NW/RMAN: no save instance found

Hello list,

when I fire up an RMAN backup using NetWorker, I see a number of the following messages in daemon.log:

71659 31-8-2010 14:02:34  nsrd docdb1.corp.zain.local:RMAN:c-2167700397-20100831-02 done saving to poolDefault (ZN0240) 16 MB
76640 31-8-2010 14:02:34  savegrp Failed to process job state change: No save instance found with job id 531711
80249 31-8-2010 14:02:34  savegrp Failed to process job completion attributes message: No save instance found with job id 531711
80250 31-8-2010 14:02:34  savegrp Failed to process job exit status: No save instance found with job id 531711
76640 31-8-2010 14:02:34  savegrp Failed to process job state change: No save instance found with job id 531711

Yet, checking with mminfo reveals that there's data actually written to tape. It seems to be a local problem on the NW server (NW7.5SP3, win2008R2).

Can anyone of you shed some light on this?

Many thanks, regards, Edgar Matzinger.

Hello jvd,

This is a known issue ("fake alarms" - no impact - NW120466) which has been resolved with 7.5.3.2 .

Please confirm the bit version of your NW 7.5.3 server and and I will upload the binaries to a ftp loacation for you.

Thanks.

J

Hello jvd,

The binaries for NW120466 (NW 7.5.3.2) may be retrieved from the following ftp location ftp://ftp.emc.com/outgoing/NW120466/

Please chose the binaries for your environment's bit version and apply by doing the following:

1. stop nsr services

2. rename the following files in \nsr\bin\ folder (replace the .exe ext with .orig)

nsrd.exe
nsrindexd.exe
nsrjobd.exe
nsrmmd.exe
savegrp.exe

3. replace the renamed files with the files retrieved from the ftp location

4. rename \nsr\tmp\ folder and \nsr\res\jobsdb to \nsr\tmp_old and \nsr\res\jobsdb_old

6. start nsr services.

Thanks.

J

Hello J,

we're currently running 7.5.3. Can I use the executables you've prepared? Or should I upgrade first to 7.5.3.2?

Thank you for your quick answer, regards, Edgar.
