NetWorker 8 - nsrd will not start

Hello

Networker 8 on Windows 2008 R2 x64

Have set the nsrd process to start with log on as a domain admin account due to having a dedup NAS device as target storage (AFTD)

Tried to start the nsrd service when the Domain controller was being rebooted (was unaware of it, and yes I know we should have more than one DC)

Got a "failure to start due to log on failure", naturally.

Now, when the DC is up again, I cannot get the nsrd service to start.

Have tried changing log on back to Local system.

Get:

"The NetWorker Backup and Recover Server service could not be started.

The service did not report an error."

The daemon.raw reports:

"critical NetWorker is unable to continue its startup sequence due to a server hostname change to "host.name.local". Please verify that the server's hostname and its aliases are properly represented in the local host database (eg. /etc/hosts) and DNS."

The hostname has not changed and the hostname reported in daemon.raw is the correct one...

Nslookup, hosts file and DNS are correct.

Have tried to delete tmp and nsrladb folders.

EDIT:

Also found these in the daemon.raw log file:

notice Found invalid resource C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\res\nsrdb\02\0200380a54000000c66e5950c0a8640e in RAP database

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

further investigation reveals that a lot of files under the index and res folders have got their permissions wrong.

I get "you do not have permission to view or edit this object's permission settings"

Changing owner and resetting security settings did not help.

I am now preparing for a bootstrap recover.
