Networker server DNS change.
We are changing our networker domain form server.abc.com to server.xyz.com. Will this affect the host ID of the server? Any recommendation of how to go about doing this properly. What type of problem should I anticipate? Thank you

Hi,
Yes, a change in the hostname will generate a new host id.
Please see the links below for more information about hostid's:
https://solutions.emc.com/emcsolutionview.asp?id=esg53846
https://solutions.emc.com/emcsolutionview.asp?id=esg115310
To "migrate" the server please see the link below. It refers to Unis OS though:
https://solutions.emc.com/emcsolutionview.asp?id=esg52557
Please bear in mind that you will need to engage EMC Licensing to issue a new valid licenses to match the new hostid.
Thank you.
Carlos.

Carlos, JoemerG,
Usually Customers have the ability to do a host transfer of the Licenses to the new NetWorker server hostid via the eLicensing portal on Powerlink/Support Website.
You will need the Base enabler for the NetWorker server and the new hostid - this will produce a PDF which will be mailed to you with all the current license details EMC has for this server.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Bill Mason

Mostly not, but depends on what yout hostid is built against (and that depends on your OS). Changing just domain name (which is just name and not IP address) should not cause call for host transfer and the only thing is that you need to make some work if you wish to save older backups from server (meaning, to have them under new name visible).

Go to http://support.emc.com and in search field use esgXXXXX you are looking for.
