Old Sybase version backup

Hello all.

I need some help with the following:

We have a Redhat 5 system with a Sybase 12 and a Networker server with 8.2 version. As far as i can in SW compatibility guides the Sybase 12 is not supported with NMDA so the question is:

Is there a combination that i can use in order to backup the Sybase?

Any help will be appreciated.

Not sure which version exactly you have (since ASE 12.0 was terminated by Sybase in 2004 and 12.5 in 2009), but if you wish to have online backup you would need to obtain older client and module version first.  This would be still unsupported and on top of that it most likely would not work correctly with 8.2.x server (due to nsrauth for example and many other changes since). So, you best option is to make dump of that DB and backup dump via file system backup.

I have check and the ASE version is 12.5.

As i can see the only workable solution is dump the DB and backup the dump as file backup.

Thank you for your answer.
