Sharepoint DR test fails; search facility does not start

Hi, we are testing a 3 server Sharepoint farm using the BMR procedure and run into the same issue every time.

Both the WFE and APP server are backuped in one snap group, starting the same time as the group which holds the SQL server. File system (BMR) backup starts before and does not overlap.

Search service is not coming up, this is the error we receive:

Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.MSSITLB.CGatheringManagerClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.MSSITLB.IGatherManagerAdmin3'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{0FF1CE14-013A-0000-0000-000000000000}' failed due to the following error: Error loading

We have Sharepoint 2010 with Networker client sw 8.1.1.3 and NMM 3.0.1.271

Networker server is 8.1.2.6

Data Domain with DDBoost

Any suggestions?

Hello,

Did you finally found a solution to your problem? We have tried the same thing with the same result.

Hello kcin

So please let me try to clarify:

1.- Are you trying to do BMR at OS level and then SP farm DR as well or is it just SP farm DR?

2.- Are you backing up WFE, APP and SQL servers in the same group? If not then this is the way you should do it.

Thank you,

Carlos

Hi Carlos Rojas, thanks for your reply.

1) We are doing a OS BMR of all 3 servers. After that we restore the SP farm.

2) We didn't have them in 1 group but in 2. However, these 2 groups are starting at the same time. I will put them in one group, which makes more sense.

Would you happen to have an outlined (step by step) procedure about this? Which components / servers need to be restored first. Documentation is somewhat fussy... Any help would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi Carlos Rojas,

today we performed the same test again. Unfortunately with the same results.

We upgraded the Networker client and NMM to 8.2.1.7 just before we started our BMR and SP backup.

Attached are the steps we performed, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
