Unable to setup direct save with server NWSERVER: no matching IP interface data domain devices for save of client `NWSERVER'; check storage nodes, devices or pools.

Jump to solution

Hello,

We are trying to add a new pool on NAS to the existing config on our networker server (version 8.2 with several existing pools on Data Domain resources works without problem).

The NAS in question is mounted on the networker server:

     1.1.1.1:/NAS           988281250048    114688 988281135360   1% /NAS

And the device resource is created and online:

$ nsradmin -c "type:NSR device"

1 of 93 (on NWSERVER)

                        type: NSR device;

                        name: NASPool;

                     comment: Device en local;

                 description: ;

   device access information: /NAS;

        enable fibre channel:  Yes   [No];

      fibre channel hostname: ;

                message_I18N: mounted adv_file disk NASPool.004;

                     message: mounted adv_file disk NASPool.004;

                 volume name: NASPool.004;

                media family:  tape   [disk]   cloud    logical ;

                  media type:

                              ....[adv_file]

                     enabled: [Yes]   No    Service ;

                   read only:  Yes   [No];

And Pool:

$ mminfo -q "family=disk" -r "volume,pool"

volume        pool

...

NASPool.004  NASPool

But any attempt from same networker server or NMC to make a backup or a clone (that the final objective of this new resource make a clone of the existing backups on the NAS) fails with with the same type of error:

1) save -b NASPool /nsr/logs

save 71193 04/08/2018 09:52:26  nsrd NSR info Media Notice: no matching IP interface data domain devices for save of client `NWSERVER'; check storage nodes, devices or pools

2) $ nsrclone -v  -b NASPool  -S 3731707181

79625:nsrclone: Failed to clone any Regular save sets

77181:nsrclone: Cannot open nsrclone session with NWSERVER.  Error is 'No destination device is available for the cloning operation.'

Any suggestions? We have looked at the documentation exhaustively but we can not find what is missing (obviously) by configuring?

Regards

Hi,

Problem solved...

The key to the topic was the message "no matching IP interface data domain devices" ... the networker sever in which the nsrclone command was launched had the option "Data Domain Backup" activated in its properties as a client ... and in this case the clone was going against adv_file ... so simply removing that check started working.
